Installing on Windows

Are there any install instructions for windows? I do not want to use WSL or docker. I want a native windows version if possible

I have some vague recollections of someone using Mopidy on Windows, but if I recall correctly that was years ago. I have no idea if they used WSL or how they did it, or how well it worked.

There’s no Windows users among the core developers, so we have no interest or capability to maintain this. Any Windows support would require someone to step up to make it happen and open PRs for any issues they run into.

Mopidy on WSL2 with latest Debian/Ubuntu works well. Install as per our docs for Debian. Although I don’t know how to have it working as a service, I’ve always started Mopidy manually under this environment.

so if I wanted to get it working on windows, where should I even start?

Given that native Windows support for Mopidy is not provided, I’d assume that’s going to require work

So personally I would only look at the WSL2 option. I’d start by installing that, followed by Debian or Ubuntu for WSL2. Then I’d follow our Debian installation guide.

thats not what I am asking. I am a developer. I am open to contributing to get windows working if that is a goal you want to target.
if I were to contribute to get windows working, where should I start?

Install gstreamer for windows and the windows versions of the other dependecies as per Install from PyPI — Mopidy 3.4.2 documentation

Maybe there’s something useful at Mopidy on Windows
