Is there any information on setup for surround sound ?
For example the audioinjector Octo sound card has 8 channel output … is there a page somewhere on configuring for surround output ?

No, I don’t think this has come up before. I don’t know what you need to support this, is it extra config settings in alsa.conf?
It presents an 8 channel device and also a plugin for anything between 1 and 8 channels to playback.
I guess there is nothing to upmix 2 channels to all 8.
