Solved odd problem with airplay

I had had some problems with airplay not working. Actually they did work initially, but them stopped one day. Pimusicbox would show up on apple devices but not play. I really wasn’t that interested in solving this because I am not a big apple fan. However, by coincidence, I happened to notice that the DNS offered by my ISP tries to resolve .local addresses (which I understand is not a standard practice). I switched to OpenDNS and now the devices work again. I think that somewhere along the line my ISP made this change without informing me or without me noticing. I am posting this in case some one else has this same problem. It didn’t even occur to me that something like this could happen.
