I’m using mopidy for plying local files, with several clients. It is working fine.
As a beginner my question would be the following.
Would it be possible to asccess the player not as 192.168.x.x:6680/client-name, but only e.g “player”

You probably want a reverse proxy setup using nginx or apache. If you search on here you should find examples.
