PiMusicBox and RaspBerry Pi 3 built-in Wifi - not connecting

I have installed PiMusicBox v.07.ORC4 on a Raspberry Pi 3. Works fine when hardwired into network, but when trying to use the onboard wifi, it does not connect to the wifi network. I get the message, ‘wlan0: link is not ready’. The onboard wifi worked fine when I had the standard raspbian build on it recently, so I don’t think it is hardware-related.

I thought the latest version of PiMusicBox supported the onboard wifi. Is anyone successfully using the onboard wifi? If so, did you have to make any configuration changes to get it to work?

Yes, v0.7RC4 does support the onboard WiFi. There are a couple of things that spring to mind that were recently fixed but not released yet:

  • Are you using an ASCII passphrase or a 64-hex digit PSK key?
  • Are you using a county-specific WiFi channel, i.e. channel 13 in the UK?

Thanks for the speedy reply! I am using a 7-character simple ascii password.
In the US, have wifi channel selection on auto.
Perhaps for troubleshooting I will try another wifi network to make sure that is not the issue.

I tried connecting to a 2.4Ghz wireless network and that worked with no issues. However, I have another raspberry Pi with a standard raspbian build, using the onboard wifi, and I am able to connect to a 5Ghz wireless network. Is there a limitation on the type of network the PiMusicBox build supports?
