Spotify streaming is provided by libspotify which requires a full premium
subscription. Unless they just changed this and I missed the news, it’s not
free. Sorry.
Thanks, and I have an idea for a feature sleep after a certain amount of time that it turns the music off and put the pi in a deep sleep to save power
The Pi doesn’t have any power saving sleep modes and the power consumption is very low as it is.
If you had an external harddrive connected you could spin that down using hdparm or something. But that’s probably more of a lifetime consideration than a power one and outside the scope of Musicbox anyway.
