MusicBox/mopidy and Spotify free vs premium

I’ve been researching how to build a headless music player with a raspberry pi and MusicBox. It seems VERY awesome except for one thing: it seems to me that this would ONLY stream a Spotify premium account, NOT a Spotify free account. Is this correct?

If this is correct, is there any way around this? Any workarounds for streaming through a free Spotify account?

I’m afraid you are correct and there is no way around this, it’s a Spotify restriction.

Well boo on Spotify! Thanks for confirming this, you saved me the time and money to figure it out myself. Off to find a different Raspberry Pi project…
