Mopidy for Home AI system

I’m building my home AI system using inexpensive Android tablets (for the rooms), and multiple API services, such as API.AI, and other available APIs. I have not conquered getting my AI to “play rock music”, or any other play command. I have read that I can stream from Spotify, and others, using HTTP commands to a running Mopidy Server, which needs to run on some variant of linux? Did I get all of that right? If so, can I put Mopidy on a hosting service like AWS, on a free box, and run http commands from my android app? That would be cool as each room could have their own local music going through the Android speakers.

Other than that, I’ve spent about two weeks researching this stuff and this is where I landed. Thanks for any help. Brian
