I used to use MPD on a Pi and was setting up a new sdcard when I discovered the enhanced features of Mopidy 
I wrote a blogpost on the subject. The image is of a grandfather clock (turned on it’s side) that I converted into a music station. The clock used to belong to my grandfather, made for him by his friend. The Pi is an earlier 2B with a iQaudio DAC and runs on renewable energy. I use various powered speakers depending on amount of energy available on that particular day. For full power, it’ll be the car stereo, preamp, 10" subwoofer and JBL Studio One speakers. Let me know if you have recommendations for extensions I haven’t covered. Cheers
