Pi Musicbox with LCD and Button/Rotary Encoder

Hello!
I’m trying to build a standalone Pi Musicbox. So, here is my question: Is there any extension to run a LCD (16x2) with some buttons? If yes, is there a Instruction? Else i’ve to build my own software…

A quick search of this forum shows Raspberry pi adafruit extension

And there are also a few more lcd related extensions on github which you should be able to dig up with a quick search there. But no idea what each of them support or the general state of things.
