I understand that it’s possible to stream Mopidy from the server to clients using Icecast or Snapcast (which I’m currently using) and that it’s possible to control the Mopidy server via MPD clients with the Mopidy-MPD extension (which I’ve also been using).
But is there anyway to enable Mopidy for a HTTP and/or HTTPD stream in order to stream to MPD clients? I’m not as familiar with MPD, but in every MPD client there’s a field for the Stream URL or Port but from what I can tell it takes an HTTP stream that is not compatible with Snapcast or Icecast.
It would be amazing to have this feature since we could both control and stream Mopidy from MPD clients, which are somewhat more varied and established (see Cantata, ncmpcpp, Euphonica, MALP, rmpc, etc.) but I’ve found little to no issue or discourse on it more recent than 4 or 5 years.
On the topic of rmpc, is there any chance at all Mopidy-MPD would ever be updated to use the latest version of MPD? It’s growing to be incompatible with an increasing number of modern MPD clients, but it doesn’t seem likely to improve. But I understand it’s very hard to find developers and maintainers for all of the varying, decaying extensions.
Just a shame to see super useful features and functionality abandoned or unexplored in an application that’s already so awesome and useful. I’m continuously shocked and confused as to why more people aren’t super enthused about Mopidy.
