Spotify Browse: Endless "Loading data from MusicBox...." in MusicBox .6 (RasPi 2)

Hi all, first thanks for this excellent software. I’m having a lot of fun with it and I’m hoping to replace my Squeezebox installation with MusicBox.

I have MusicBox .6 up and running on a Raspberry Pi 2. Spotify and Google Music are enabled and they seem to be working pretty well, except for Spotify Browse. When I select Browse and then Spotify Browse, I see the top level categories (Featured Playlists, Top Lists, etc) but if I select any of them then I get an endless message “Loading data from Musicbox. Please wait…” and nothing happens.

This is what I see in the Mopidy log when I select any of the Spotify Browse sub-categories:

2015-04-20 12:00:09,959 - INFO Starting new HTTPS connection (1): api.tunigo.com
2015-04-20 12:00:10,003 - WARNING /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/requests/packages/urllib3/util/ssl_.py:79: InsecurePlatformWarning: A true SSLContext object is not available. This prevents urllib3 from configuring SSL appropriately and may cause certain SSL connections to fail. InsecurePlatformWarning

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It seems this is an external problem with the Tunigo API service. Something similar has happened before and hopefully it’ll be fixed soon.

Thank you, that’s great to know! I’ll keep an eye on it.

Btw, in case anyone else sees this thread, the workaround in the thread you linked above seems to work pretty well. Though it’s less secure.

Thank you very much. I have got the same problem - but without the above warning message. The workaround works very well.

I have the same problem with Spotify. I suppose just changing that one line (for the time being) in the tunigo source is not enough. Do I need to re-install something? Thanks!

This problem was only with Tunigo (i.e. browsing Spotify toplists) and it looks like it’s now fixed. Do you actually see the same error as originally reported?

Thank you for answering. My problem is an endless message ‘Trying to reach …’ or ‘Loading data from …’ on lists (toplists, dinner music, etc.) via the entry Spotify as well as Browse Spotify. From the above discussion I got the idea that the ‘workaround’ could help, temporarily.

Do I need to wait a little longer then?

It sounds like you’ve got another problem there. Can you search Spotify or
any music from your Spotify playlists? Can you browser radio stations (I.e.
Tunein)? Can you have a look in /var/log/mopidy/mopidy.log to see if there
are any errors in there?

Thank you for pointing me to that log file. I’m very new to RPi and its systems. The log file indicates indeed that Spotify does not accept my credentials. This is strange because I alrady had checked name and password very carefully by copying/pasting them from my 1Password file and logging on anew in my app. I’ll focus on that now.

TuneIn and USB work just fine.

Do you by chance have some punctuation or unusual characters in your
Spotify username or password? I think that might still be an issue in
musicbox.

Yes I have. I began to think in that direction myself. So I need a second Spotify account :flushed: then.
