Donald Bell has created a guide and video for installing the latest Pi Musicbox v0.7 on a WD PiDrive Node Zero at [https://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Home-Network-Music-System/](https://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Home-Network-Music-System/). Hopefully WD will start selling it with a Zero W (as well as that nice white case) and it’ll be a very smart setup.

I’ve just built one of these following this guide. I didn’t bother with the speaker or amplifier as I have a stereo system already. I have the headphone output connected to my amplifier.

The only problem is the audio level is very low. I have to turn the volume up to twice as high for Pi Musicbox as it is for any other audio.

Does anyone know of a way to get the audio level higher on a set up like this?

If you run `alsamixer` you should be able to adjust the output level.

Is this comparison against other audio sources with them also plugged into the same input on your amplifier? Is it a line-level input or something else?

I guess I need a USB soundcard with a line-out not a headphone out.

Yes, the other inputs are line-level.

I have the level as high as possible on alsamixer

I now have a different USB sound card which has phono sockets for line out and seems much better - proof that you get what you pay for.

Pi Musicbox on a WD PiDrive Node Zero works well 😁
